Platform Engineer

Overview

The Platform Engineer role involves building and maintaining platform-as-a-service capabilities that empower agile teams to develop, deploy, and manage applications smoothly, without the overhead of traditional infrastructure management. Utilizing lean and agile methodologies, this position plays a key role in advancing digital initiatives by addressing challenges collaboratively and ensuring platform resilience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain a self-service application delivery system for developers, employing automation, virtualization, and enhancing processes.

Experience and Qualifications

• At least five years of practical experience in platform engineering, focusing on complex multi-tier system design, scripting, version control, configuration management, continuous integration/deployment, system administration, containerization, cloud orchestration, monitoring, and security practices.
• Proficient with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI and ArgoCD; infrastructure as code using Terraform; deployment tools like Helm; container orchestration with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud service providers (AWS, Alibaba Cloud, Azure), including networking components (VPC, VPN), computing services (EKS, MKS, RDS, EC2, Lambda), and security mechanisms (WAF).
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, Go, and configuration automation using Ansible.
• Capability to perform code reviews, coordinate penetration testing, and conduct risk assessments to proactively mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Experience working within agile, product-focused teams that implement user experience design, lean principles, DevSecOps, and cloud-based technologies.
• Desirable experience includes mobile application and web services development.
• Prior roles involving coaching or mentoring engineering staff are advantageous.

Educational Requirements

A degree in a technical discipline or equivalent professional experience and training.
