Platform Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer with over six years in DevOps, platform engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). The focus of this position is comprehensive management and operation of Kubernetes clusters in production environments, including expertise with Amazon EKS or upstream implementations.

Key Responsibilities and Expertise

• Expert management of production Kubernetes clusters, ensuring reliable upgrades, backups, restores, and seamless rolling deployments across multiple environments.
• Thorough understanding of Kubernetes architecture components such as etcd, the control plane, scheduler, admission controllers, and the API server.
• Integration and management of HashiCorp Vault using the Kubernetes authentication method to handle secure secrets injection.
• Deployment and maintenance of service mesh technologies like Istio and/or Linkerd in live production systems.
• Implementation of Kubernetes security features including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Network Policies, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and Pod Security Admission (PSA) policies.
• Use of infrastructure as code and automation tools such as Terraform and Helm to manage infrastructure and application deployments.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Go to automate platform operations.
• Design and implementation of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and adoption of GitOps methodologies.
• Solid experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure components including IAM, VPC, EC2 instances, Application Load Balancers (ALB), Network Load Balancers (NLB), and CloudWatch for monitoring.
