Plant General Manager

About the Role

ACWA is in search of an accomplished Plant General Manager to oversee the operations of significant power generation and water desalination facilities. This leadership role demands ensuring safety, reliability, and operational efficiency while meeting the plant's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all plant operations and maintenance to guarantee safety, reliability, and efficiency.
• Champion initiatives to enhance operational performance, maximize plant availability, and ensure long-term asset dependability.
• Provide expert technical guidance for troubleshooting, conducting root cause analyses, and driving performance enhancements.
• Supervise all plant modifications, ensuring adherence to operational and safety guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with contractual commitments, operational KPIs, and production objectives.
• Develop and execute operational strategies in line with broader business goals.
• Generate reports on operational, financial, and performance metrics for senior leaders and board members.
• Continuously monitor operational risks and opportunities, implementing corrective measures as needed.
• Lead ongoing improvement efforts across operations, maintenance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Manage budgets, oversee financial performance, and maintain cost controls.
• Understand and uphold commercial contracts, agreements, and project-related responsibilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop large multi-disciplinary teams, focusing on workforce and succession planning.
• Promote a high-performance work culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards and policies.
• Support Integrated Management Systems (IMS) implementation, including audits and certifications.
• Foster and propagate a robust safety culture among staff and contractors.
• Maintain strong partnerships with project companies, shareholders, equipment manufacturers, contractors, regulators, and local authorities.
• Serve as the primary operational liaison for both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Bring over 15 years of experience managing large-scale power generation or water desalination facilities.
• Demonstrate a proven background in leading operations and maintenance within utilities, industrial or infrastructure sectors.
• Have solid expertise in plant reliability, maintenance, and optimizing production processes.
• Experience in managing operational budgets, commercial outcomes, and contractual requirements.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills managing sizeable multi-disciplinary workforce.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing capabilities.
• Committed to HSSE standards, operational excellence, and promoting continuous improvement.
