Planning Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for skilled Planning Engineers to join our project team based in Qatar. The role involves managing project planning processes such as scheduling, monitoring progress, reporting, and coordinating efforts to ensure timely project completion aligned with contractual obligations.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related engineering field is required.
• BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent qualifications are preferred.

Experience Requirements

• At least 10 years of total professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience specifically in project planning and scheduling.
• Background in large-scale construction, infrastructure, or development projects is advantageous.
• Experience working on projects in Qatar or the GCC region is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed project schedules consistent with project objectives.
• Prepare baseline schedules, execution plans, and detailed work programs.
• Track actual progress against planned activities and highlight deviations.
• Generate weekly and monthly progress reports for management and stakeholders.
• Develop and update look-ahead schedules to anticipate upcoming activities.
• Monitor critical path tasks and ensure milestone achievements.
• Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and other parties to gather progress updates.
• Analyze delays, determine their impact on project timelines, and assist in planning recovery strategies.
• Evaluate contractors’ and subcontractors’ schedules and progress reports.
• Track project resources and deliverables against approved timelines.
• Create presentations, dashboards, and reports to convey progress clearly.
• Maintain thorough records of planning activities and control documentation.
• Assist management in forecasting project completion and identifying risks.
• Ensure compliance of planning activities with contractual requirements and milestones.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Expertise in construction project planning and scheduling methods.
• Proficient use of Primavera P6 software is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of MS Project is considered an advantage.
• Strong grasp of project control techniques, progress measurement, and delay analysis.
• Ability to interpret engineering and construction drawings accurately.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with various stakeholders.
• Able to perform well under pressure and meet stringent project deadlines.
