Role Overview

The Planning Engineer role is a full-time, on-premise position based in Qatar. It entails supporting project scheduling and control activities within geotechnical and marine construction ventures. Responsibilities include creating and updating detailed project timelines, developing work breakdown structures, and facilitating coordination among project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams to synchronize schedules and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Planning Engineer routinely monitors project progress, detects deviations from baseline schedules, and prepares regular progress reports and forecasts for stakeholders. The role supports risk assessment, optimization of construction sequencing, and preparation of claims and time extension documentation through thorough analysis and record-keeping. It also requires cooperation with diverse teams to ensure compliance with contract terms, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient in project planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project, capable of developing detailed construction schedules.
  • Experience in civil engineering projects, specifically in geotechnical or marine sectors, including foundation works and marine construction techniques.
  • Skilled in data analysis, progress monitoring, and reporting using tools like dashboards, S-curves, and resource allocation plans.
  • Knowledgeable in contract administration, claim preparation, delay analysis, and documentation of project changes.
  • Strong communication and coordination capabilities suitable for multicultural teams comprising site staff, consultants, and clients.
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fields; project management certification such as PMP is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proactive in identifying and mitigating planning risks.
  • Experience working in GCC countries and familiarity with local regulations and standards is a plus.
