Planning Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to oversee the development and control of project progress for construction initiatives in Doha, Qatar. This role involves preparing detailed plans, monitoring supplier performance, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that project milestones are met precisely.

Key Responsibilities

• Create initiation programs for every stage of project development.
• Develop an integrated progress control system covering all project phases.
• Prepare detailed phase-wise development plans.
• Effectively communicate project plans to all stakeholders involved.
• Ensure supplier programs align with detailed plans and monitoring systems.
• Track supplier progress to confirm it matches scheduled timelines.
• Formulate and implement recovery strategies to address any delays.
• Assist in analyzing supplier claims, ensuring correct handling.
• Manage close-out planning activities and guarantee proper project data administration.
• Review and understand all pertinent project documentation and contract conditions.
• Set up appropriate project control procedures and estimate required resource levels.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and clients to develop comprehensive work breakdown structures.
• Establish and communicate cost and schedule baselines; implement control measures for performance monitoring.
• Regularly assess project status with the Project Control Team and recommend corrective measures if necessary.
• Prepare reports on cost, planning, and document control in compliance with the Project Control Manual.
• Perform additional planning-related tasks as assigned by senior management.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of overall experience in construction project planning.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in planning and programming high-quality projects using industry-standard software such as Primavera P6.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• UPDA certification is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as PSP and MBA qualifications are advantageous.
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status is desirable but not mandatory, provided a proven history of successful high-quality phased projects that remained operational during construction is demonstrated.
