Job description

Position Overview

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Planner to join their Environment Business in Exeter or Bristol, focusing on projects within the Wessex and South West Water Frameworks. This role presents an opportunity to develop into a Senior Planner position by managing multidisciplinary Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical project schedules and collaborating closely with operational, engineering, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and manage strategic and detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Communicate schedule progress, resource allocation, and cost levelling updates to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive, standalone multidisciplinary baseline construction plans collaboratively with project delivery teams.
  • Produce client-focused planning outputs, incorporating Collaborative Planning methodologies when necessary.
  • Monitor and manage changes in project scope, ensuring that contractual obligations are adhered to and changes are transparently shared with stakeholders.
  • Provide timely and precise progress reporting, critical path analyses, and milestone tracking.
  • Integrate construction activities to prevent resource clashes or site conflicts by reviewing and coordinating schedule data.
  • Adhere strictly to Business Management Systems (BMS) guidelines in all planning processes.
  • Compile, maintain, and review programme documentation and conduct on-site progress validations through regular programme reviews.
  • Support strategic and operational decision-making with proactive forward planning and attend regional offices and construction sites as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation capabilities with a clear focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 with strong IT, report writing, and data analysis skills enabling rapid scenario modeling.
  • Good understanding of multidisciplinary construction areas including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (ICA).
  • Ability to interpret 3D models and engineering drawings effectively.
  • Experience with MS Project and/or Asta Powerproject is advantageous.
  • Background in Site Management or Engineering is desirable.
