Piping/Structure Supervisor

Overview

Orion Mining Inc is looking for a seasoned Piping & Structure Supervisor to manage and coordinate offshore Brownfield, Shutdown, and Hook-Up operations specifically for the Piping & Structure discipline. This role consists of upholding safety standards, quality, asset integrity, and project adherence, along with facilitating smooth offshore execution and commissioning processes.

The job is offshore-based in Qatar, involving 28 days on duty followed by 28 days off, with occasional onshore periods dedicated to training and preparing scope.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and ensure successful offshore Brownfield, Shutdown, and Hook-Up activities including commissioning stages.
• Oversee and regulate the activities of Contractors and Subcontractors during Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning.
• Verify that all operations align with contracts, project documentation, and international norms.
• Assess constructability and technical compliance of both engineering and contractor deliverables.
• Identify, monitor, and resolve technical challenges, deviations, and operational issues.
• Maintain communication with Contractors/Subcontractors regarding project progress and reporting.
• Coordinate Permit to Work (PTW) activities with Operations and Contractors, ensuring adherence to approved Method Statements and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).
• Engage in daily safety and PTW meetings during offshore execution phases.
• Ensure all offshore tasks are executed without compromising safety, quality, or existing asset integrity.
• Manage resource allocation effectively to support Brownfield and Hook-Up operations.
• Report discipline-related concerns and implement suitable corrective measures.
• Contribute to safety enhancement initiatives and closure of safety actions in assigned areas.
• Participate in project reviews and lessons learned sessions.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Hold at least a High National Diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Bring minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in major Oil & Gas projects involving construction, installation, fabrication, execution, mechanical completion, and hook-up disciplines.
• Experience working with Oil & Gas companies, contractors, service firms, or large offshore construction organizations.
• Strong knowledge of design standards, technical specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
• Proven exposure to fabrication, transportation, installation, Brownfield execution, commissioning, and Hook-Up activities.
• Familiarity with offshore installations, structures, and their operational aspects.
• Understanding of risks and execution methods related to sour gas and LNG production facilities.
• Experience working within complex, multidisciplinary projects and large operational setups.

Essential Skills

• Deep technical knowledge of piping and structural disciplines.
• Comprehensive understanding of offshore Brownfield and Hook-Up execution methodologies.
• Experience with Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning phases.
• Strong safety mindset and quality control awareness.
• Excellent ability to manage multiple contractors, subcontractors, and interfaces effectively.
• Effective communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capable of prioritizing and working efficiently within a fast-paced offshore environment.
• Thorough understanding of Permit to Work systems, Method Statements, and Job Safety Analysis processes.
• Aptitude to collaborate closely with Operations, HSE, Quality, Commissioning, and Project teams.

Work Pattern

This role operates on a rotational schedule of 28 days offshore followed by 28 days offshore.
