Pharmacist - Full-time, Hourly, Day Shift

About the Role

Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store in Burlington, Ontario, and contribute to delivering comprehensive health, beauty, and convenience services to your community. This role places the customer at the heart of its operations.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of pharmacy operations during your shift including counseling patients and healthcare professionals, dispensing medications, and maintaining inventory in compliance with legislation and standards.

• Warmly greet all customers who approach the Pharmacy
• Adhere strictly to federal and provincial laws and professional regulations governing pharmacy practice
• Ensure all patient privacy rules are upheld, managing confidentiality and consent diligently
• Provide expert advice on prescription medications as well as over-the-counter and behind-the-counter products
• Deliver professional services using the full scope of your expanded capabilities
• Maintain clear identification to the public as the practicing pharmacist
• Ensure accuracy and appropriateness in all dispensed prescriptions
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive customer care
• Keep all mandatory records in full compliance with legislation and pharmacy policies
• Control pharmacy inventory and dispensary access to protect patient confidentiality
• Monitor workflow queues daily and oversee proper handling of ‘will call’ bins as per standard procedures
• Conduct regular stock reviews to identify expired products and maintain optimal inventory levels
• Manage medication orders and stock in coordination with wholesalers
• Comply with Controlled Drugs and Substances Act requirements, maintaining documentation and reporting to relevant authorities
• Maintain pharmacy work areas and customer-facing locations to reflect a professional and welcoming environment
• Engage with financial reports and address store communications effectively
• Report any medication-related incidents or breaches in patient privacy promptly

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to think independently and make sound decisions in complex situations
• Experience in planning, coordinating, and delegating tasks while coaching pharmacy team members
• Proven leadership qualities demonstrated by driving business growth and supporting enterprise initiatives
• Dedication to outstanding customer service and strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities including development and implementation of action plans
• Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and solid computing skills
• Commitment to workplace health and safety standards
• Willingness to complete mandatory training and pursue continuing education

Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from $48.90 to $63.25 CAD depending on experience, knowledge, and location.
