Key Responsibilities

• Perform expert professional grooming services such as bathing, drying, brushing, cutting and styling fur, trimming nails, cleaning ears, and gland expression, following pet parent instructions and breed standards.
• Operate and maintain grooming equipment including clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers with care.
• Prioritize safety and comfort of pets, monitor their condition closely, and report any health concerns promptly to owners and management.
• Assess each pet’s unique needs considering coat texture, skin issues, and temperament.
• Engage professionally with pet owners by offering grooming advice, answering questions, and ensuring satisfaction.
• Educate customers on grooming upkeep and home care products to promote pet wellness.
• Keep the grooming area tidy and sanitary, regularly clean tools and equipment, and adhere to hygiene protocols.
• Follow grooming business policies and maintain quality and safety standards consistently.
• Assist in training junior groomers when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of a formal grooming apprentice program or equivalent experience in professional pet grooming.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to apply independent judgment to solve grooming related problems with some support from leadership.
• Detail-oriented with dedication to delivering precise and quality grooming services.
• Strong passion for animals and enthusiasm for continuing growth in pet grooming.
• Comprehensive understanding of dog breeds, grooming styles, health issues, and animal behavior.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with customers and grooming teams.
• Comfortable working with a variety of pets, managing all sizes and temperaments safely and compassionately.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays according to the grooming center's schedule.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based indoors within a grooming salon. It requires physical activities such as bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and prolonged standing. The role may also involve working at heights and performing cleaning duties involving equipment like vacuums. The environment can be noisy and wet, and teamwork with fellow grooming staff is essential.
