Job description

General Overview

This role involves overseeing and analyzing safety protocols within Facilities Management to prioritize and elevate safety standards across all levels. Regular safety data collected through weekly, monthly, and annual inspections will be compiled, examined for trends, and presented to various management tiers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and regulate the Permit to Work procedures for Facilities Management, evaluating health and safety permits, risk assessments, method statements, and airport regulations to uphold exemplary safety practices at Hamad International Airport.
  • Develop and interpret Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) concerning safety measures, including working at heights, confined spaces, and fire safety, to ensure ongoing safe operations within HIA.
  • Manage accident and incident records using the AQD system, ensuring thorough investigations are communicated to the relevant managers or departments for continuous enhancement of safety protocols.
  • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly health and safety statistical reports to senior management to track and promote safety enhancements.
  • Enhance safety awareness among all Facilities Management personnel by delivering presentations, safety briefings, and written guidelines aimed at fostering a culture of safety improvement.
  • Provide expert technical input on risk assessments and method statements related to civil and mechanical engineering and HVAC systems to ensure comprehensive safety controls throughout the airport.
  • Assist with health and safety inspections and audits across HIA to detect potential workplace hazards, assign corrective controls to the responsible departments, and follow up to confirm implementation.
  • Coordinate and support interactions with government and regulatory bodies to guarantee statutory compliance and the enforcement of safety standards at HIA.
  • Supervise external training initiatives as needed, including preparing and updating training materials and delivering internal training sessions and toolbox talks on safety subjects to HIA staff.
  • Perform additional department-related duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant occupational experience.
  • Alternatively, a High School Diploma, Vocational Qualification, or Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of job-related experience.
  • Advanced health and safety certifications.
  • Comprehensive experience in all aspects of airport operations.
  • Supervisory level experience within the aviation sector.
