About the Role and Team
You will join the core team focused on enhancing the performance and user experience of TikTok LIVE, a platform serving billions globally. This role involves overseeing the entire user journey, from discovering live streams to creators broadcasting live, with a key focus on continuous performance improvements across diverse network environments and devices worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end performance optimization of live streaming, addressing aspects like content distribution efficiency, room entry speed and success rates.
- Enhance LIVE viewing experiences by optimizing client-side performance, including power consumption, smoothness, stability, and thermal management to boost user engagement and retention.
- Improve the go-live process, increasing conversion and success rates while ensuring stability during high-traffic events and competitions.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive performance metrics framework and diagnostic tools for proactive issue identification and resolution.
- Establish a governance system covering measurement, analysis, optimization, and validation for sustained performance improvements.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Client, Server, Algorithms, Audio/Video, CDN, and Data groups, to align technical roadmaps and deliver complex projects with measurable business impact.
Candidate Qualifications
Minimum Expectations:
- Strong architectural insight with hands-on experience in at least one technical area such as client development, backend engineering, networking, or audio/video systems, capable of addressing and resolving complex technical challenges.
- Proven ability in data-driven analysis to detect issues and root causes from large-scale datasets and communicate findings clearly in both written and spoken forms.
- Demonstrated competence in systematic problem-solving and cross-functional project leadership, with a results-focused attitude and strong ownership.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with audio and video technologies including capture, encoding/decoding, processing, and rendering.
- Knowledge of networking and transport protocols such as QUIC, WebRTC, and HTTP/3.
- Familiarity with CDN architecture and strategies for intelligent scheduling.
- Capabilities in client-side performance optimization focusing on reducing power consumption, memory use, and improving smoothness and stability.
