Payroll Specialist Lead

Role Overview

This role, representing a partner company, invites a Payroll Specialist Lead based in Ireland to join a global Payroll Operations team responsible for comprehensive payroll delivery in their assigned country.

The position blends hands-on payroll expertise with responsibilities such as ensuring compliance, data quality, process improvement, performance oversight, and collaboration across Finance, Payroll Implementation, Product, and Engineering departments within a multicultural, asynchronous remote-first environment. Additionally, it entails mentoring payroll specialists and supporting regional managers operationally as needed.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage all aspects of payroll processing end to end, including statutory requirements, exceptions, approvals, payments, and compliance for the designated country.
• Serve as a country-level payroll knowledge expert, maintaining accuracy and compliance with local standards.
• Ensure consistent payroll accuracy and data integrity throughout the payroll cycle.
• Prepare payroll journals and perform reconciliations, resolving discrepancies to guarantee accurate financial reporting.
• Track key performance indicators and service level agreements, addressing risks proactively.
• Forge strong working relationships with stakeholders across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, Engineering, and other relevant teams.
• Seek and implement enhancements to payroll processes, focusing on automation and efficiency gains.
• Mentor and support payroll specialists to boost team expertise and output.
• Provide operational backup for regional managers and engage in wider payroll operations projects.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll functions, either internally or at a payroll service provider.
• Deep understanding of payroll best practices, compliance mandates, and operational workflows.
• Previous experience handling complete French payroll processing.
• Familiarity with Silae payroll software is essential or highly relevant.
• Competency with productivity and data management tools such as Excel and Google Workspace.
• Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to resolving payroll-related issues.
• Committed to continuous improvement, eager to enhance process speed, scalability, and efficiency.
• Adaptable to a dynamic, global, and predominantly asynchronous remote environment with strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
• Remote work experience is advantageous but not required.
• Excellent mentoring, communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills.
