Job Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and well-organized International Payroll Analyst with over three years of experience in payroll management to support our global payroll operations. This role involves managing payroll activities for multiple countries and working closely with Payroll, Finance, People Operations, and HR Business Partner teams to ensure seamless payroll execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily payroll operations across various international locations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Coordinate monthly payroll cycles by collaborating with local and global payroll vendors to meet deadlines.
- Act as the primary contact among Payroll, Finance, People Operations, and HR Business Partners to communicate payroll-related updates effectively.
- Gather, examine, and verify payroll data from stakeholders including new hires, terminations, salary revisions, bonuses, commissions, leaves, benefits, and other employee-related changes.
- Submit all payroll data and documentation within country-specific deadlines to payroll service providers.
- Analyze preliminary payroll reports for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies before final approvals.
- Work with payroll vendors to address employee inquiries, resolve payroll problems, and clarify calculation issues promptly.
- Maintain and monitor international payroll schedules and proactively liaise with internal teams to ensure necessary information is obtained before cutoffs.
- Collaborate with Finance on payroll funding, reporting, reconciliations, and month-end procedures.
- Verify final payroll outputs against source data to confirm accurate reflection of employee information.
- Assist with payroll-related variable payments such as bonuses and commissions.
- Support payroll processing related to employee equity transactions; prior experience in this area is advantageous.
- Track and manage open payroll issues with internal departments and external providers to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive payroll records and documentation adhering to internal control standards.
- Provide support during payroll audits, compliance assessments, and reconciliations.
- Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes, controls, documentation, and cross-department communication.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of three years' experience in payroll, ideally encompassing multiple international countries.
- Proven experience managing third-party or local payroll vendor relationships.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end payroll processing and control mechanisms.
- Capability to collaborate cross-functionally with People Operations, HR Business Partners, Finance, and vendors.
- Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple country payroll timelines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed, accountable for payroll duties, with sound judgment to escalate risks or issues appropriately.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to succeed in a rapidly changing, growing, and global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing payroll across different regions, especially in EMEA and APAC.
- Knowledge of equity compensation and its payroll and tax ramifications.
- Familiarity with global payroll platforms and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
- Experience with payroll system implementations, migrations, or new country setups.
- Understanding of international payroll compliance and statutory obligations.
- Skill in payroll reconciliations, audits, and internal control audits.
