About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join our payroll department, responsible for ensuring employee payroll is processed accurately and punctually while adhering to company policies and legal regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive payroll processing expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete bi-weekly payroll process with precision and timeliness.
- Examine and verify employee time entries and payroll data reconciliation.
- Compute and administer overtime, statutory holiday compensation, paid leave, retroactive pay adjustments, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Process payroll updates such as new hires, terminations, and employee information changes.
- Identify and rectify payroll discrepancies promptly.
- Handle employee queries related to payroll professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain comprehensive payroll records and documentation.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, and year-end activities.
- Collaborate with HR, Operations, and Finance teams to guarantee payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Contribute to payroll process enhancements and document procedures.
- Provide payroll administration support for personnel under collective bargaining agreements.
Qualifications
- At least three years of payroll processing experience.
- Proficient in using ADP payroll software.
- Strong understanding of payroll procedures and employment standards legislation.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- High level of accuracy and keen attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and consistently meet payroll deadlines.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Certification or progression towards a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is preferred.
- Experience dealing with unionized employees or interpreting collective agreements is advantageous.
- Prior involvement in payroll reconciliations and year-end closing processes is a plus.

Compensation
The expected starting salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 annually. The final offer may be adjusted according to market conditions and location while complying with legal requirements.
