Job description
Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Payroll Officer is responsible for managing end-to-end monthly payroll processing and performing reconciliation activities. This role ensures full adherence to the payroll, tax, and social security legislation applicable in Malta. The successful candidate will be preparing and submitting statutory returns including FS3, FS5, and FS7 forms. Additionally, they will generate reports related to payroll, labour costs, and workforce metrics using Indigo Payroll and Indigo Insights software. Supporting departmental heads with payroll-related data analysis and identifying opportunities for payroll process automation are also key responsibilities. Maintaining accurate and confidential records while complying with GDPR is essential. Collaboration with the HR team to support projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing employee experience is expected.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience using Indigo Payroll / Shireburn Software and Indigo Insights platforms.
- Sound understanding of Malta's payroll regulations and statutory reporting obligations.
- Experience managing payroll in hospitality or environments with high employee volumes.
- Background in payroll administration, HR, or accounting functions.
- Strong analytical capabilities and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Meticulous attention to detail coupled with effective deadline management skills.
- Excellent communication abilities and stakeholder engagement expertise.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach and enthusiasm for continuous process improvement.
