Job description
Job Overview
As a Payroll Administrator reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to ensure payroll for hourly employees is processed accurately and punctually, aligned with company policies and government regulations. This role is located in the Winnipeg or Edmonton office.
Key Duties
- Prepare and process payroll on a weekly and bi-weekly basis for hourly staff.
- Calculate payments for new hires, employment changes, and terminations.
- Compile and generate month-end payroll reports.
- Serve as a liaison between staff, management, and payroll concerning payroll inquiries.
- Create payroll-related correspondence, statistical summaries, and other documentation.
- Support management during internal and external payroll audits.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect payroll information.
- Issue Records of Employment (ROE) through ROE Web.
- Prepare and reconcile year-end payroll reports.
- Perform various administrative payroll tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
- Possess an undergraduate degree or diploma in Business, Accounting, or equivalent skills and experience.
- Have at least 2 years of full payroll cycle experience.
- PCP designation and familiarity with in-house payroll systems are advantageous.
- Proficient in Excel, skilled in data processing, and capable of handling confidential data responsibly.
- Excellent communication abilities, customer service focus, and teamwork orientation.
- Capable of managing a substantial workload, meeting deadlines with attention to detail and precision.
- Strong interpersonal skills capable of cultivating positive relationships across multiple groups.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and cope with dynamic, high-pressure environments.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities combined with meticulous accuracy.
