Job Overview
This position requires a qualified parts clerk experienced in handling inventory and customer service tasks within industrial, retail, or repair settings. The role demands on-site presence in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where the working environment may be dusty, noisy, and have some odors.
Primary Duties
- Respond to telephone inquiries and relay messages effectively.
- Organize and set up displays for retail parts and accessories.
- Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally.
- Advise customers regarding the use and suitability of various goods and parts.
- Process cash transactions accurately.
- Identify, label, and catalog incoming items systematically.
- Distribute parts and supplies for internal operational use.
- Prepare and monitor work orders throughout processing.
- Generate requisition orders to maintain adequate inventory of parts and supplies.
- Receive, unpack, and sort arriving shipments of parts, supplies, and materials.
- Sell spare and replacement parts to customers.
- Organize storage of items within the warehouse, tool room, or supply area.
Experience and Technical Knowledge
- Minimum 2 to less than 3 years of experience in relevant roles or equivalent qualifications.
- Familiarity with inventory control software, Microsoft Office applications, and internet usage.
- Specialized knowledge handling parts related to agricultural machinery, construction machinery, heavy equipment, manufacturing equipment, recreational vehicles, small engines, and generators.
Additional Information
- Applicant must possess a Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience.
- Worksite conditions include a physically demanding landscape, requiring standing for extended periods and the ability to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Must maintain attention to detail, work effectively under tight deadlines and pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety and security requirements include a valid driver’s license, personal transportation, a clean driving record check, and use of steel-toed safety boots.
- Personal qualities desired include dependability, organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal efficiency, and reliability.
