Role Description and Responsibilities

As a Painter, you will be instrumental in preserving the pristine condition of the hotel’s interiors and exteriors, ensuring all painted surfaces exhibit cleanliness, durability, and aesthetic excellence. This hands-on role is suited for an experienced professional valuing craftsmanship and teamwork while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for guests and colleagues.

• Deliver high-quality painting services efficiently and safely
• Adhere strictly to hotel and departmental policies, safety standards, and procedures
• Prepare surfaces meticulously by sanding, patching, caulking, priming, and sealing
• Apply various finishes including paints, stains, and varnishes using appropriate tools like brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
• Accurately match paint colors for touch-ups ensuring uniform finishes throughout
• Conduct minor drywall repairs and handle wallpaper removal or replacement as necessary
• Complete painting tasks and preventive maintenance as assigned
• Minimize disturbance to guests and hotel operations during work
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and store materials appropriately
• Handle paints and chemicals responsibly, complying with WHMIS and OH&S regulations
• Assist in managing inventory of painting materials and report supply needs
• Collaborate with other departments and trades to synchronize project timelines
• Provide training and guidance to junior painters or apprentices when applicable
• Keep accurate records of hours, tasks completed, and materials used
• Operate hotel vehicles safely following established protocols
• Remain flexible to work varied shifts including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call duties
• Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors

Skills and Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of professional painting experience, ideally in commercial, hospitality, or large-scale facility settings
• Expertise in surface preparation, paint application, and finishing techniques
• Competence in drywall repair, surface patching, and wallpaper removal
• Familiarity with eco-friendly and low-VOC painting products and their application
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards including WHMIS and OH&S
• Experienced with using ladders, scaffolding, and power painting equipment
• Strong attention to detail ensuring consistent, high-quality finishes
• Effective organizational and time management skills to prioritize and execute tasks
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment
• Preferably holds a valid Canadian driver’s license
• Physically fit to lift up to 25 kg and perform tasks involving climbing, kneeling, and extended standing
• Maintains a professional, guest-oriented approach and remains composed under pressure
