About the Role
British American Tobacco (BAT) Fiji is seeking a Pack Technician to join their team in Suva, Fiji. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of packing machinery and systems, contributing to the organization’s mission of building a smokeless world. Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and value-based performance within the production technical team.
- Design and carry out preventive maintenance schedules that align with machine care and reliability programs, ensuring effective restarting of machines after maintenance events.
- Plan maintenance activities to keep equipment in optimal condition, minimizing downtime, process failures, and breakdowns.
- Engage in and support Daily Management Systems (DMS) on the SMD production floor to monitor equipment and processes.
- Create technical training materials such as One-Point Lessons, facilitate skill development among team members, and continually update own knowledge to operate and maintain production technology.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Between 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturing.
- Solid understanding of machine maintenance, reliability principles, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, promote teamwork, conduct technical training, and adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
- Competency in intermediate-level Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), combined with a commitment to zero-loss mindset and strong communication abilities.
