Job description
Role Overview
The Outdoor Adventure Educator (OAE) will lead and manage camping activities at the Ministry of Education's Outdoor Adventure Learning Centres. This role involves guiding student learning experiences while ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the programmes.
Key Duties
- Facilitate outdoor adventure camping experiences and encourage meaningful student reflection and learning.
- Maintain student safety by providing clear safety briefings and strictly following established safety protocols.
- Support the logistical and administrative aspects necessary for smooth execution of camp activities.
- Design, implement, and assess camp programmes to meet targeted educational outcomes.
- Typically conduct camps lasting 3-4 days within a 5-day workweek, which may include Saturdays.
- Follow a structured Work-Rest-Learn cycle, with rest days granted after camps and dedicated preparation and professional development days on non-camp weekdays to promote recovery and continuous growth.

- Prior experience conducting outdoor activities for students is beneficial but not mandatory.
Additional Information
Applicants should expect a response within four weeks after the application deadline. In case of a large applicant volume, notifications may take up to six weeks.
Shortlisted candidates must participate in a mandatory one-day selection programme at an MOE Outdoor Adventure Learning Centre, where competencies related to heights, water activities, and coastal swimming will be evaluated. Successful candidates from this stage will then attend a one-day attachment programme at an MOE OALC, which offers job previews and further assessments.
