Job description

Role Overview

Join the Ministry of Education Heritage Centre team as a Curator responsible for preserving and presenting Singapore's educational history from the 19th century through to today. This role involves in-depth research, exhibition development, artefact management, and coordinating educational outreach to diverse audiences.

Key Duties

  • Perform research utilizing both English and vernacular language sources such as Chinese, Malay, or Tamil to design and refresh exhibitions for physical and digital platforms at the MOE Heritage Centre.
  • Source and acquire artefacts relevant to Singapore's educational heritage, ensuring proper care, documentation, and collection system management; oversee requests for research access, viewing, and loan arrangements.
  • Develop and implement educational programmes targeted at students and staff while supporting community outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external partners and donors to co-create exhibitions, expand artifact collections, and organize special programmes.

Candidate Profile

  • Academic qualifications in History, Museum Studies, or similar Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.
  • Preferably experienced in museum or heritage-related professions.
  • Strong abilities in research and factual writing, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English and one vernacular language (Chinese, Malay, Tamil) to support research and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including outside regular office times for exhibition setups and events.
  • Keen interest in the history of Singapore and its education system.

Additional Information
