Position Overview
This role is designed for individuals without formal teaching qualifications who aspire to become educators through pre-service training programs such as the PGDE or Diploma in Education. The position involves building foundational knowledge and values in students to prepare them for future endeavors.
Job Responsibilities
As a teacher-in-training, you will be responsible for delivering the school curriculum effectively, leveraging your subject expertise and communication skills. You will play an essential role as a role model, helping to nurture young learners by fostering sound moral values and professional conduct. The role requires physical stamina and resilience to maintain engagement and ensure a safe learning environment.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications: a university degree, diploma, 'A' Level certificate, IB diploma, or an equivalent qualification.
- Good subject matter knowledge and communication skills are essential.
- Applicants should demonstrate personal attributes suited for teaching, including the ability to relate to youth and uphold moral values.
- Physical fitness and the stamina to conduct lessons effectively are required.
Application Process and Important Dates
The application period is from 8 to 28 September 2026. To apply for a teaching position within the PGDE or Diploma in Education program, candidates must complete an online FormSG application, indicating preferred teaching subjects and uploading all educational transcripts. If official transcripts are unavailable at the time of application, the most recent transcripts may be submitted.
Applicants interested in Physical Education are urged to apply by 14 September 2026 to facilitate processing of Physical Proficiency Test and interviews. Other subjects have a deadline of 28 September 2026 at 11:00 PM. Late applications may not be accepted.
Only applications submitted via the FormSG platform will be considered. Responses will be provided within approximately four weeks following the application window. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, and recruitment outcomes communicated within two weeks after interviews. Applicants who do not hear within this period remain under consideration.
