About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Optical Assistant to join our welcoming and well-established Boots Opticians franchise team based in Borehamwood. This position is ideal for candidates with prior optical experience who are passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a busy clinical and retail environment, assisting patients in selecting suitable eyewear and lens solutions tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice to customers on the selection of frames, lenses, and lens enhancements.
- Assist customers in choosing frames that align with their prescriptions, lifestyle, and style preferences.
- Offer knowledgeable recommendations on ophthalmic lens options.
- Support clinical staff with pre-screening and administrative tasks.
- Manage spectacle collection, fittings, and necessary adjustments.
- Deliver outstanding aftercare services and handle customer inquiries effectively.
- Maintain consistent high standards of professional customer service.
- Contribute to the smooth daily operations of the practice as part of the wider team.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of one year’s experience as an Optical Assistant.
- Experience in optical dispensing is essential.
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic lenses and various lens options.
- Confidence in discussing lens enhancements and options with customers.
- Excellent communication skills paired with a strong customer service orientation.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable, professional, and approachable manner.
- Capability to thrive in a busy retail and clinical setting.
- Positive mindset and effective teamwork abilities.
Working Hours
- Full-time, permanent role.
- Working hours from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
- Requirement to work Saturdays.
- One weekday off per week.
