About the Role
We are a rapidly expanding agri-commodity and seed production company focused on an asset-light, digitally monitored contract farming model across Bihar. We seek a diligent and execution-driven Operations Lead & Chief Agronomist to oversee field operations, farmer cluster development, and partnerships with third-party processing units in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Key Responsibilities
- Aggregate and onboard progressive farmers and local Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to support year-round multi-crop production including Rabi cash crops, summer green manure, and premium Kharif staples.
- Manage the complete crop lifecycle over multiple seasons, supervising crop rotations such as early winter crops (Potato, Toria oilseeds, Rabi Maize, Desi Pulses), summer Dhaincha seed multiplication, and aromatic heritage Paddy varieties (Katarni, Kala Namak).
- Ensure seed purity and regulatory compliance by maintaining isolation distances, conducting roguing, managing documentation, inspections, and sampling activities in line with State Seed Certification Agency (SSCA) standards and central SATHI Portal requirements.
- Oversee post-harvest quality assurance including on-site quality verifications like moisture content, purity board assessments, and germination tests. Manage raw harvest transportation and coordinate processing at third-party mills involving cleaning, grading, and sorting.
- Handle logistics and inventory control by supervising truck dispatch, weighbridge data, regional storage facilities, and implement measures to prevent inventory losses.
Required Qualifications & Expertise
- Graduate or postgraduate degree (B.Sc or M.Sc) in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related disciplines.
- Between 5 to 10 years of practical experience working on contract farming, seed multiplication, or commercial grain procurement in Bihar and/or Uttar Pradesh.
- Comprehensive understanding of seed laws, especially the Seeds Act (1966), with hands-on experience using the SATHI Portal and complying with SSCA certification protocols.
- Established network encompassing FPOs, progressive farmers, and local agricultural processing mills.
- Proficiency in Hindi and regional dialects to independently manage field activities without constant supervision.
Locations
Primary work locations include Muzaffarpur, Patna, and Bhagalpur in Bihar.
