Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Therapist/Manager of Rehabilitation, the Occupational Therapist is expected to demonstrate clinical expertise relevant to their practice scope, incorporating a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and evidence-based occupational therapy methods. The role demands alignment with M42 and local health authority policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing referrals and performing initial assessments to identify physiological, psychological, and cognitive issues.
• Creating, implementing, and updating individualized treatment plans addressing physiological, cognitive, and psychological patient needs.
• Setting patient-focused goals and educating patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams about these objectives.
• Clearly communicating treatment plans and methods, ensuring patient comprehension, consent, and cooperation prior to therapy initiation.
• Utilizing standardized outcome measures to assess progress, monitoring patient responses, and adjusting treatments to meet goals.
• Conducting ongoing risk assessments and enforcing safety during therapy sessions.
• Applying effective strategies to promote client self-management and health education to boost overall wellbeing.
• Maintaining precise and timely documentation of all evaluations and treatments provided.
• Completing administrative duties related to patient care, including documentation, billing, and insurance submissions as per standards.
• Respecting team members’ expertise, advocating for patients, and making appropriate referrals.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure personalized care throughout the treatment journey.
• Employing strong analytical skills to deliver specialized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Identifying patient condition deterioration promptly, taking necessary action and escalating issues as required.
• Promoting service excellence and defending patient rights and dignity at all times.
• Engaging actively in patient care meetings, providing handovers and comprehensive reports to secure continuity of quality care.
• Ensuring adequate inventory levels of supplies and equipment needed for clinical duties.
• Assisting in marketing and patient access initiatives where clinical expertise adds value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a recognized direct-entry program leading to a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• At least six years of occupational therapy experience in a major hospital setting, particularly with patients similar in diagnosis to those in acute care or rehabilitation environments.
