Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Educator at Mease Dunedin Hospital is responsible for assessing, developing, delivering, and managing educational programs aimed at enhancing the professional skills and clinical competence of nursing staff. This position plays a pivotal role in nurse onboarding and ongoing professional development, including leading New Hire Nursing Orientation and managing the Volunteer Nurse Program. Through education, mentoring, and continual learning, the educator empowers nurses to gain confidence and clinical mastery that supports their career growth and advances BayCare's commitment to clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, organize, and lead orientation sessions for newly hired nursing staff
- Oversee educational initiatives facilitating nurse transition into clinical roles
- Manage the Volunteer Nurse Program, including onboarding and continuous education
- Identify educational needs and implement programs that promote nurse competence and development
- Conduct classroom instruction, simulations, and experiential learning activities
- Serve as an educational resource for nursing personnel, leadership, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support compliance with evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and learning initiatives
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure an effective and engaging onboarding experience
- Champion communication, engagement, and improvement within clinical practices
- Perform Registered Nurse duties and other allocated tasks as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience
- Active licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in acute care nursing settings
- Preferred certifications include professional organization credentials and ANPD certification
- Prior involvement in nursing education, staff development, mentoring, or precepting
- Experience in facilitating orientation, onboarding, or professional development programs

- Working Hours: Variable shifts (Shift 4), including days, evenings, and nights
