Job description

Role Overview

An established automotive lighting company serving high-end and supercar brands is looking for a skilled NPI Process Engineer to join their Launch & SVO team in Buckingham. This permanent role focuses on establishing reliable manufacturing methods for new product introductions, aiming to ensure efficient, cost-effective launches that meet rigorous quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and enhance manufacturing processes to improve quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
  • Assess and refine manufacturing techniques, tooling, and materials to support cost-saving efforts.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations.
  • Assist quality investigations by implementing thorough root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate teams aiming to elevate manufacturing performance through ongoing improvements.
  • Create, maintain, and manage vital documentation including PFMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Support manufacturing setups for new products and introductions, integrating BOMs, routing, and SAP requirements.
  • Participate in RFQ preparation and analyze manufacturing costs.
  • Conduct detailed component reviews to ensure tooling and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with project teams to meet key programme milestones and support pre-series prototype builds.
  • Champion Design for Manufacture (DFM) and contribute to DFMEA and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies, environmental standards, and 5S workplace organization.
  • Promote safe working environments and continuous improvement of workplace organization.

Requirements

  • At least five years' experience in assembly manufacturing or manufacturing engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement within assembly-focused operations.
  • Practical experience supporting new product launches and introductions.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, and manufacturing process development.
  • Six Sigma knowledge preferred; a Black Belt certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive and positive mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills for leading teams through improvement projects.
  • Background in fast-paced manufacturing settings, ideally automotive or related industries.
