NLP Engineer

About the Role

We seek an NLP Engineer with 2 to 5 years of professional experience to develop advanced text understanding and language AI functionalities that enhance Creuto's product suite. The role involves tackling challenges such as text classification, named entity recognition (NER), semantic search, and document intelligence using contemporary transformer-based methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop NLP models and data processing pipelines for tasks including text classification, entity recognition, summarisation, and semantic comprehension.
• Fine-tune and customize pretrained language models, particularly from Hugging Face, tailored to specific domain requirements.
• Create semantic search engines and document retrieval systems by leveraging dense vector embeddings and vector databases.
• Incorporate large language model (LLM) APIs into existing NLP workflows to harness generative capabilities.
• Construct evaluation datasets and performance benchmarks to quantify the quality of NLP features in production.
• Optimize NLP models to improve inference speed and reduce costs while preserving acceptable accuracy and reliability.
• Work closely with product teams to interpret language understanding needs into clear NLP project objectives.
• Continuously monitor and maintain NLP features' quality and performance after deployment.

Candidate Profile

• Between 2 to 5 years of experience in engineering NLP systems deployed in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming and hands-on experience with Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy, or equivalent NLP libraries.
• Demonstrated success in fine-tuning models such as BERT, RoBERTa, or similar architectures for classification and extraction applications.
• Deep understanding of classical NLP techniques as well as contemporary LLM technologies, including their advantages and constraints.
• Ability to develop rigorous evaluation mechanisms and critical thinking to assess model effectiveness.

Desirable Additional Skills

• Expertise in creating multilingual NLP applications, especially for languages spoken in India.
• Familiarity with information extraction methods, knowledge graphs, and document intelligence concepts.
• Experience integrating speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionalities.
• Knowledge of advanced LLM workflows, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and function calling methods.
