Night Shift Material Handler Associate (Full-Time)

Job Overview

This role focuses on stocking merchandise onto shelves, organizing sales floors to present an appealing and safe shopping environment, and providing customer service as needed. The position typically involves operating reach trucks, forklifts, and order pickers to manage merchandise placement and retrieval.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain full stock levels by properly shelving products to achieve 100% inventory availability.
• Perform pallet unloading and restocking merchandise per store instructions.
• Merchandise new items and promotional products effectively.
• Keep aisles clean and accessible, ensuring merchandise is attractively displayed.
• Organize and align merchandise on upper shelves.
• Coordinate with fellow material handling team members to correctly store products in designated areas.
• Adhere to Home Depot's customer service model: greet customers, build rapport, and conclude with gratitude.
• Engage customers by asking open-ended questions to understand their project requirements and expertise.
• Safely transport merchandise between temporary storage and upper shelves, using suitable equipment.
• Ensure unobstructed and safe customer movement within aisles.
• Comply strictly with safety policies and loss prevention guidelines.

Physical & Work Conditions

• Frequent bending, stretching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving articles.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 3.5 to 5 meters (12 to 16 feet) to retrieve or store merchandise.
• Variable schedule including night shifts, evening shifts, and weekends.
• The work environment may be dusty, noisy, and occasionally exposed to gas emissions from forklifts.
• Store doors may be frequently open, resulting in drafts and temperature changes inside.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of retail or distribution experience is considered an asset.
• Experience operating reach trucks, forklifts, or order pickers is a plus but not mandatory.

Additional Information

Reports directly to the Material Handling Supervisor. There are no specific travel requirements associated with this role.
