Job description

About Dyson and the Role

Dyson’s CSCO Office & Network Strategy team operates two key functions: supporting the Chief Supply Chain & Operations Officer's office with communication strategy, OPEX, risk, audits, and leadership meetings; and continuously optimizing the manufacturing network to balance cost, cash flow, service, sustainability, and resilience amid evolving external factors such as geopolitical changes and logistics disruptions.

The Network Design & Optimization Manager will play a crucial role in shaping supply chain network scenarios aligned with the company's long-term strategy. This role involves translating corporate and supply chain strategies into concrete network design decisions, such as production footprint, make-vs-buy choices, and partner selection, supported by thorough analytics and stakeholder engagement. Operating at the intersection of strategy, analysis, and executive decision-making, the manager will prepare recommendations for senior leadership and the Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop deep understanding of external factors like geopolitical shifts, tariffs, logistics disruptions, sustainability demands, and supplier capacities, alongside internal considerations such as product roadmaps, volume projections, costs, and operational limits.
  • Translate corporate and supply chain strategies into clear network design imperatives, including make vs. buy decisions, regional vs. global manufacturing and distribution models, capacity positioning, and footprint evolution.
  • Define comprehensive network scenarios illustrating strategic options and trade-offs across cost, service, cash flow, resilience, and sustainability, with well-defined assumptions, constraints, decision levers, and success factors.
  • Lead quantitative evaluation of network scenarios using modeling, analyzing dimensions such as total landed cost, service levels, inventory and cash impacts, risk, resilience, and scalability.
  • Conduct sensitivity and what-if analyses to test scenario robustness against uncertainties like demand changes, cost inflation, tariffs, and capacity shifts.
  • Communicate complex analytical results into clear, actionable insights that highlight trade-offs, risks, and decision implications.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders from scenario design through assessment to final recommendations, ensuring alignment on all fronts.
  • Act as a cross-functional integrator balancing competing priorities and viewpoints.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations and documents articulating strategic context, analyzed scenarios, outcomes, risks, and clear recommendations.
  • Present and defend recommendations before senior leadership and executive boards, tailoring communication as needed.

Engagement with Key Stakeholders

The role involves regular interaction with senior leaders across supply chain and corporate functions, including the Chief Supply Chain & Operations Officer, Global Supply Chain, Procurement (outsourced and direct), NPI/Industrialization, and Finance teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Advanced degree such as a Master’s in Engineering, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of professional experience in supply chain, network design, operations strategy, management consulting, or similar analytical roles within complex global environments.
  • Knowledge of network design topics like manufacturing footprint optimization, sourcing strategies, capacity allocation, and operating models is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with decision processes at executive or Board level, including preparing high-level recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills to develop, evaluate, and interpret complex models and perform sensitivity and scenario analyses.
  • Ability to balance multiple dimensions such as cost, service, cash, risk, resilience, and sustainability when evaluating options.
  • Capacity to structure ambiguous or complex problems into clearly defined hypotheses and decision frameworks.
  • Strategic insight linking external trends (geopolitical, tariffs, logistics, supplier capabilities) with internal realities (product roadmap, volumes, costs, constraints).
  • Commercially pragmatic, marrying strategic aims with operational feasibility.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage diverse functions and levels of seniority, aligning stakeholders on assumptions, priorities, and trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce compelling executive presentations and to explain complex analytics simply and diplomatically.
  • Confidence in presenting and defending analytic findings before senior leadership, adapting style and messaging effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous environments with strong ownership and accountability.
  • A collaborative approach, acting as an integrator across functions rather than focusing narrowly.
  • A curious and progressive mindset, striving to improve tools, methods, and processes in network design and optimization continuously.

Benefits and Working Environment

Dyson offers competitive pay and bonuses aligned with market standards, along with benefits such as transport allowances, comprehensive medical insurance, professional development, leadership growth programs, dynamic workshops, and a vibrant, relaxed culture that supports innovation and ambition. Dyson embraces diversity and inclusion, encouraging applicants from all backgrounds and making hiring decisions without discrimination.
