Motorway Maintenance Operative

About the Role

Egis Lagan Services, based at R95W409, manages motorway maintenance and renewal activities across approximately 330 km of motorways and high speed dual carriageways on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). We currently seek a Maintenance Operative for our Little Island, Cork depot to deliver essential road upkeep and respond to incidents.

Primary Duties

The role involves physically executing daily road maintenance tasks, providing on-call emergency responses outside regular hours on a roster basis including night shifts, and undertaking a variety of routine maintenance responsibilities such as landscaping, cleaning road furniture, traffic management, road inspections, incident response, winter maintenance, litter removal, minor fencing and civil repairs, and documenting completed work accurately. The operative will follow directions from the Maintenance Supervisor and complete any required training.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of secondary education completion, a Class C driving license, current Safe Pass certification, and relevant hands-on experience in maintenance tasks akin to those listed. A strong commitment to health and safety standards is essential.

Desirable Credentials

Additional beneficial qualifications include training in traffic management, health and safety-related courses such as first aid, fire warden duties, manual handling, safety representation, or other related work skills. Prior experience in a similar role and familiarity with standard road maintenance methodologies, tools, and materials will be advantageous.

Licensing & Authorization

A Class C driving license is preferred. Candidates must be authorized to work in Ireland and perform duties in person at the specified location.
