Role Overview

The Model Maker is responsible for producing precise and intricate physical scale models derived from architectural, engineering, and industrial blueprints. Daily duties include analyzing technical drawings, preparing and selecting materials, fabricating parts, assembling the models, and applying fine finishes to meet high quality standards. The role necessitates close coordination with designers and clients to ensure clarity of requirements, creating prototypes to verify concepts, and maintaining both tools and a safe working environment. Additionally, the position involves documenting procedures, handling multiple project timelines, and contributing to enhancements in modeling techniques and workflows. This position requires full-time onsite presence in Mumbai.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven expertise in model building and prototype creation from design specifications.
  • Competence in interpreting and working with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and technical drawings.
  • Practical experience using machining and workshop tools for precise cutting, shaping, and finishing of materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and spatial reasoning.
  • Familiarity with an array of materials such as plastics, wood, metal, foam, and resin.
  • Ability to read and comprehend architectural and engineering plans; experience in model-making, fabrication, or product design is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities, with a focus on meeting project deadlines.
  • A relevant diploma or degree in industrial design, architecture, engineering, or a related discipline is favored.
