Job description
Role Overview
Barminco invites applications for the position of Mine Controller to support underground mining operations at sites throughout Western Australia. The role is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating underground mining activities from the control room, ensuring operations run safely, efficiently, and without interruption. Responsibilities include managing communications, monitoring personnel and equipment movements, and responding promptly to operational issues or emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize mine control and tracking systems to monitor underground operations and maintain real-time awareness of personnel, equipment, and production processes.
- Maintain continuous communication with supervisors, operators, and emergency response teams to facilitate smooth operations.
- Coordinate shift activities, including scheduling production movements, dispatching equipment, and managing access to work zones.
- Track and log personnel underground, ensuring adherence to safety and emergency protocols.
- Oversee critical systems such as ventilation, gas monitoring, communication networks, and refuge chamber conditions.
- Promptly escalate operational challenges, incidents, or emergencies following established site procedures.
- Accurately maintain logs, reports, and records for operational and safety compliance purposes.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven prior experience in a comparable mining control role within the mining industry.
- Strong proficiency with computers and familiarity with mine control or fleet management systems.
- Possession of a valid Australian driver's licence.
