Job description
Role Overview
Become a vital part of the Barminco team as a Magazine Keeper supporting underground mining operations across Australia, specifically at sites in Western Australia. This position focuses on the safe storage, handling, and distribution of explosives and blasting materials while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols, inventory controls, and site-specific blasting procedures.
Key Duties
- Receive, securely store, and manage explosives and detonators within licensed magazines in line with regulatory and site safety mandates.
- Distribute explosives and related blasting accessories to authorized personnel while keeping precise records and inventory logs.
- Perform regular inspections of magazines to ensure ongoing compliance with safety, security, and environmental standards.
- Track stock levels and coordinate procurement to ensure sufficient blasting supply availability.
- Oversee correct segregation, handling, and transportation of explosives and detonators to maintain safety standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including records of explosive usage, stock reconciliation, and reports required by regulations.
- Collaborate with shotfirers, supervisors, and mining teams to support safe and effective blasting activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in a comparable role within the mining industry is preferred.
- Possession of explosives security clearance and a dangerous goods card.
- Valid Western Australia explosives license.
- Current Australian driver’s license.
