Mid-Level DevOps Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to take ownership of our platform's CI/CD systems, infrastructure as code, and monitoring on Google Cloud. You will play a critical role in advancing the migration from VM-based deployments to Kubernetes and GitOps methodologies, ensuring all environments remain secure, automated, and comply with regulatory standards.

Key Duties

• Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build and GitHub Actions to enable safe, incremental, and zero-downtime deployments.
• Manage and enhance the GitOps workflow including the use of Kustomize overlays, image promotion, and automated reconciliation processes.
• Assist in finalizing the migration to Kubernetes, maintaining both Kubernetes and VM deployment paths concurrently in a healthy state.
• Develop and uphold infrastructure as code for all environments using shared modules and ensure plans undergo thorough reviews.
• Operate containerized workloads by managing ingress controllers, resource limits, autoscaling, and troubleshooting deployment issues.
• Expand platform observability by implementing structured logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting—transitioning from current tools to full Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging coverage.
• Implement security hardening following a defined control set, including secret management with automated rotation, workload identity, and enforcing least-privilege IAM policies.
• Manage the cloud infrastructure footprint in the Saudi Arabia region (GCP me-central2) including backups, verification, and executing disaster recovery drills as per documented plans.
• Oversee supply-chain and pipeline security measures such as container image and dependency scanning, generation of SBOM and provenance data, and secret scanning across all pipelines.
• Maintain multiple environments including alpha, QA, staging, staging-QA, and production; ensure data anonymization in all non-production environments.
• Participate in on-call rotations, maintain support documentation and runbooks, and monitor per-environment cost controls and alerts.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• 3 to 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or platform engineering supporting production infrastructure.
• Proficient with Google Cloud Platform services including IAM, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Artifact Registry, and Compute Engine.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kubernetes in production, including ingress, resource management, and resolving rollout failures.
• Experience with GitOps tools such as Kustomize and Argo CD or Flux.
• Proficient in infrastructure as code practices using Terraform or similar tools, including managing remote state and shared modules within a collaborative environment.
• Strong knowledge of Docker and designing CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build or GitHub Actions, with scripting skills in Bash or Python.
• Advanced Linux troubleshooting skills at the container level and experience handling production incidents.
• Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced startup settings, managing priorities effectively and delivering on tight deadlines.
• Comfortable leveraging AI-assisted software tools to enhance productivity and output quality.
• Preferred qualifications include GCP Professional certification (Cloud DevOps Engineer or Cloud Engineer), experience with Saudi Arabia cloud regions (me-central2), understanding Saudi cybersecurity standards (NCA ECC-1, CCC-2), and PDPL compliance.
• Additional preferences include knowledge of OpenTelemetry, migrating workloads from VMs to Kubernetes, and professional proficiency in Arabic and English.
