Job Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, quality, health and safety standards within the laboratory setting.
- Conduct microbiological analyses on both routine and specialized samples following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and client criteria within required holding times and turnaround times.
- Prepare culture media, reagents, and other supplies adhering to quality benchmarks.
- Operate and service laboratory instruments to ensure proper performance and longevity.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory quality management systems such as GLP, ISO 17025, and SINGLAS standards.
- Carry out internal quality control tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Participate in proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparisons to validate capabilities.
- Support method validation and verification processes, as well as continuous improvement projects assigned by senior technical staff.
- Assist with internal and external audits and regulatory inspections to maintain compliance.
- Practice aseptic techniques and follow biosafety protocols consistently.
- Ensure the cleanliness and order of the laboratory and equipment via regular and scheduled housekeeping activities.
- Manage laboratory inventory carefully to minimize waste and maintain adequate stock levels.
- Report problems, concerns, or operational challenges to senior microbiologists or management promptly.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by senior microbiology leadership or lab management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a degree in Biological Sciences, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- Hold at least one year of post-internship relevant laboratory experience.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Be flexible and adept at adapting to changes in schedules, operational needs, and emergent requirements on short notice.
- Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Have solid analytical abilities and comprehension of scientific documentation.
