Job Overview

Under the guidance of the Head of Office (CAS) and day-to-day supervision of the Programme Manager (MHPSS), the MHPSS Associate will manage and facilitate psychoeducation, support groups, and individual counseling sessions, performing various key tasks to support mental health and psychosocial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist in conducting MHPSS services including individual and group sessions.
  • Facilitate collaboration with mental health experts (clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers) and support referrals to specialized care when necessary.
  • Support primary caregivers in organizing assistance for families affected by mental health or behavioral conditions.
  • Help implement intervention and recovery plans tailored for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Organize workshops and platforms to disseminate crucial MHPSS-related information and advocacy content.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services through Smart Camp SYNC data entry system, covering new and follow-up cases and visibility reports for MHPSS activities at Camp As Sayliyah (CAS).
  • Assist in planning capacity building initiatives for IOM personnel, CAS focal points, Qatar Red Crescent, and community volunteers on psychosocial support via workshops and training sessions.
  • Contribute to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the MHPSS program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational and Professional Background

  • University degree or Bachelor’s in counselling psychology or related field with a minimum of three years relevant professional experience from an accredited institution.
  • Alternatively, a high school diploma combined with at least five years of relevant specialized experience.
  • Proven experience working within Mental Health Counselling Units or equivalent settings.
  • Background working with vulnerable community groups.
  • Experience engaging with government, diplomatic authorities and stakeholders; familiarity with international organizations or NGOs is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in MHPSS programming, psychosocial support, community engagement especially under emergency scenarios.
  • Ability to compose clear and concise official correspondence and project documentation.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills adaptable to multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrates strong ethical principles aligned with humanitarian values.
  • Effective organizational, facilitation, communication, writing, and presentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data entry/database management.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluent oral and written English is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of Dari, Farsi, or Pashto is an asset.
