Metal Finisher

Overview

This role involves preparing finished products such as platforms, product tanks, and other welded components for painting, under the guidance of a Lead Person or Supervisor. A foundational understanding of welding, surface preparation, painting, and mechanical concepts is beneficial. Ability to interpret blueprints and use various measuring tools is required; basic computer proficiency is advantageous but not mandatory.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute all tasks associated with the cleaning department collaboratively and reliably, maintaining punctuality.
• Follow directions from supervisory staff to complete production orders promptly.
• Read and comprehend work orders and technical documentation necessary for job completion.
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to become proficient with mechanical equipment and master all job-related functions.
• Maintain a productive and cooperative work attitude avoiding disruptions.
• Strive to minimize waste and rework by consistently improving quality standards.
• Adhere strictly to company safety policies and other organizational guidelines.
• Keep equipment and workspaces clean and organized.
• Operate the designated tools and equipment required for the job competently.
• Continuously seek to enhance performance in all aspects of the position.

Qualifications

• Basic prior experience with grinding and welding cleanup.
• Familiarity with power washing and shot blasting techniques.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and work orders.
• Mechanical aptitude and manufacturing experience beneficial.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Physical capability to climb ladders, and perform tasks involving sitting or standing as needed.
• Able to lift weight up to 50 lbs as required.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing on concrete surfaces during shifts except breaks.
• Ability to lift or push objects up to 50 lbs typically from floor to waist height (~36 inches).
• Capability to handle parts weighing up to 10 lbs.
• Occasional ladder climbing up to approximately 5 feet.
• Perform activities involving crouching, squatting, kneeling, and some crawling.
• Good manual dexterity and balance necessary to operate equipment safely.
• Use of all five senses daily to ensure personal and team safety.

Additional Information

This is an entry-level position offering a salary of $20.88 per hour.
