Messenger Driver - 18-Month Contract

About the Role

As a Messenger Driver within the Messenger Services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the secure, timely, and efficient transfer of goods, equipment, and personnel across varied routes, primarily within the Greater Toronto Area. This position demands an attentive approach to vehicle upkeep, adherence to safety standards, and route optimization to meet departmental objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage the pickup and delivery of internal mail, couriers, equipment, and materials addressed to the bank, including from external third-party businesses within the GTA.
• Identify goods correctly and verify instructions to confirm accurate distribution. This process includes recording receipt in SendSuite and delivering according to department protocols.
• Safeguard both low and high-value items while transporting by obtaining necessary signatures and employing track-and-trace systems.
• Maintain the organization's vehicles by reporting any damage or need for maintenance promptly.
• Support the department with additional tasks during periods of low driving activity.
• Work in alignment with bank policies on risk appetite, compliance, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and conduct risk.
• Contribute positively to creating an inclusive workplace culture and uphold high performance standards.
• Foster a customer-centric mindset to strengthen relationships across the bank's systems and client services.

Requirements

• Completion of high school education.
• Possession of a valid G Class driver's license; an F Class license is considered an advantage.
• Familiarity with logistics operations and detailed knowledge of the GTA road network.
• A clean driving record demonstrating responsible vehicle operation.

Working Conditions

• Operating mainly within an office setting but with frequent variation; work hours generally fall between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with 7.5-hour shifts that can fluctuate as per operational need.
• Potential start locations vary across bank campuses.
• The role requires physical demands including lifting weights up to 750 lbs, utilizing equipment like pallet trucks and two-wheel dollies, as well as tasks involving bending, reaching, twisting, and walking.
• Drivers must routinely operate vehicles in all weather conditions, including congested urban areas and highways extending to North York and Mississauga.
• Awareness and compliance with traffic rules are required to maintain safety.
• Daily schedules are subject to variability due to traffic and unexpected routing changes while handling time-sensitive documents and high-security items.
