MEP Lead - Life Sciences Sector

Overview

Join the Life Science team as an MEP Lead based in Limerick. This key leadership position involves overseeing the technical quality and operational delivery of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services across multiple projects. The role reports directly to the MEP Director and focuses on ensuring compliant, safe and innovative MEP systems that align with the company's strategic goals while mentoring senior teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver technical leadership for all MEP engineering and building services within the designated portfolio.
• Manage design, installation, commissioning, and handover phases of MEP systems across projects.
• Ensure seamless coordination of MEP with structural, architectural, and civil disciplines.
• Review and approve critical technical documents and designs to ensure compliance with contractual and legal standards.
• Oversee project performance and risk management relating to MEP activities.
• Support senior building services managers to achieve timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality project delivery.
• Implement industry best practices for technical execution, design integration, and construction methods.
• Ensure sector-wide adherence to statutory, regulatory, and contractual MEP obligations.
• Lead investigations into technical failures to promote continuous improvement.
• Keep up to date with evolving industry standards, regulations, and sustainability mandates.
• Mentor and develop regional building services managers and senior staff to enhance sector capabilities.
• Encourage knowledge sharing, technical innovation, and continuous professional growth.
• Contribute to succession planning and workforce development strategies within the MEP function.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulators to meet technical expectations.
• Advise leadership on technical risks, opportunities, and MEP-related decisions.

Experience & Skills

• Extensive senior-level experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building services roles in complex construction projects.
• Strong technical expertise in MEP system design, installation, and commissioning.
• Proven capability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence diverse stakeholders.
• Experience delivering integrated MEP solutions on large-scale, multi-site developments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with proven mentoring ability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
• Professional membership with a recognized organization such as CIBSE or IET is advantageous.
• Considerable background in MEP leadership and management within construction environments.

Preferred

• Postgraduate education in Building Services, Engineering Management or Sustainability is a plus.
• Experience utilizing BIM for MEP, digital engineering, or smart building systems.
• Familiarity with energy efficiency, carbon management, and sustainability frameworks in construction.
