Mendix Web Developer

Overview

The Mendix Web Developer is responsible for designing, building, and managing robust enterprise web applications on the Mendix low-code platform. This role converts business needs into scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions, integrating seamlessly with the overall IT ecosystem while promoting engineering best practices throughout the application lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deploy Mendix web applications using industry-standard architecture and development methodologies.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable and maintainable Mendix solutions that adhere to quality standards.
• Create detailed domain models, complex microflows, nanoflows, workflows, responsive UI elements such as Atlas UI, page templates, and bespoke widgets.
• Develop custom components through Java and JavaScript actions following company coding conventions and best practices.
• Implement and manage robust Mendix security frameworks, including user roles, module roles, and access controls based on the principle of least privilege.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, reliability, and compliance with enterprise guidelines.
• Perform comprehensive code reviews to maintain quality, consistency, and ease of maintainability.
• Set up auditing, logging, and monitoring capabilities while advocating for DevOps, BizDevOps, and SecDevOps methodologies.
• Create reusable, product-style modules applicable across multiple applications and projects.

Integration and System Design

• Integrate Mendix apps with third-party systems using REST, SOAP, OData, Kafka, databases, and identity providers such as OIDC and Azure AD.
• Design, document, and release APIs adhering to REST/SOAP standards, including practices like version control, authentication, and rate limiting.
• Develop highly modular, reusable components such as modules, microflows, nanoflows, snippets, and document templates utilizing Mendix Building Blocks.
• Collaborate closely with enterprise architects, infrastructure teams, and system stakeholders to ensure compatibility with the wider IT infrastructure.
• Maintain stringent documentation standards involving clean code, internal app documentation, and comprehensive handover materials like low-level design (LLD) and API documents.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Possess an Advanced Mendix certification; Expert-level certification is preferred.
• Bring over 5 years of Mendix development experience, having successfully delivered at least one complex application to production.
• Demonstrate expert understanding of domain modeling, microflows, nanoflows, security models, and advanced use of Java/JavaScript for custom actions.
• Proficient in Java and JavaScript for crafting custom actions, debugging, and tuning performance.
• Extensive experience with REST and SOAP web services, including API creation and documentation.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL involving complex queries, joins, and indexing.
• Experience working with Git-based workflows, continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, and conducting major Mendix version upgrades.
• Hands-on knowledge of on-premise setups, including networking fundamentals, certificates, firewall rules, and proxy handling.
• Ability to harness AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT to expedite coding, debugging, and documentation.

• Proven capacity to operate independently while leading technical streams within projects.
