Mendix Solution Architect

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mendix Solution Architect to lead a significant, multi-phase enterprise Mendix program based in Dubai, UAE. This role involves overseeing solution architecture, integration design, and the development process for a complex Mendix environment hosted on Microsoft Azure. The project extends an existing multi-application Mendix platform with new modules, native iOS/Android mobile apps, and approximately 20 integrations via an enterprise service bus (ESB) connecting systems such as government services, banking institutions, payment gateways, CRM, and financial platforms. This bilingual platform (Arabic/English) features right-to-left interface support and utilizes national digital identity standards (OIDC) for authentication and e-signature services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Familiarize with the current Mendix solution, including models, architecture, integrations, environments, and CI/CD pipelines, via comprehensive handover sessions with the prior team.
• Develop a reuse analysis and define target solution architecture encompassing domain models, application landscape, security strategies, and approaches to non-functional requirements.
• Facilitate detailed analysis workshops contributing technical feasibility insights and integration strategy.
• Take ownership of integration design alongside maintaining the Integration Assumption Register, documenting methods, data flow directions, operations frequency (real-time or batch), and interdependencies.
• Conduct early-stage technical spikes focused on document generation, native right-to-left UI implementation, payment system integration, enterprise content management (ECM), and e-signature capabilities.
• Establish the development methodology including shared components, coding standards, source branching strategies, and release/wave planning.
• Design reusable workflow components for handling extended case processing and Mendix workflow versioning.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience in Mendix development.
• At least 5 years serving in a solution architect capacity.
• Proficient in managing Mendix workflows at scale, including handling long-running processes.
• Experienced in integrating systems via enterprise ESBs or API layers.
• Skilled in implementing OIDC/SSO authentication and ECM integrations such as CMIS.
• Familiarity deploying applications on Microsoft Azure or Kubernetes environments.
• Possesses Mendix Expert certification (mandatory).

Preferred Attributes

• Background working within government or highly regulated sectors.
• Experience with financial systems or case management platforms.
• Development work on Arabic language or right-to-left (RTL) interface applications.
• Arabic language proficiency.
• Previous work experience in the Middle East region.
