Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a proficient Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to enhance the reliability and efficiency of mechanical equipment across both domestic and commercial settings. The role primarily involves executing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), addressing reactive repairs, and driving continuous system improvements. The engineer will oversee a diverse array of equipment, ensuring safe, effective operation at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement scheduled planned preventative maintenance activities across multiple domestic and commercial locations
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults promptly following breakdown events
• Perform routine servicing of heating systems, pipework, pumps, and related mechanical components
• Work on gas appliances and systems where certified
• Conduct root cause analysis to minimize recurrence of faults
• Maintain detailed and accurate job records through a CAFM or similar job management system
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry regulations in all tasks
• Communicate professionally with customers, tenants, and internal departments
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and system upgrades

Candidate Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent credential
• Demonstrated experience in maintenance roles within both domestic and commercial environments
• Strong abilities in fault diagnosis and problem solving
• Possession of a full UK driving licence is mandatory

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Gas safety qualifications are advantageous
• Experience with boilers, heating systems, and gas appliances preferred
• Basic electrical knowledge and multi-skilled capabilities are beneficial
• Familiarity with CAFM or mobile job management platforms
• Background in plumbing or pipefitting is a plus
