Role Overview
This full-time role for a Mechanical Engineering Technician is based onsite in Lagos and supports production and maintenance operations at the Agbara plant. The technician will assist with the installation, operation, upkeep, and repair of mechanical equipment, machinery, and production lines. Daily activities include interpreting technical schematics, conducting regular inspections, identifying mechanical issues, and addressing faults to minimize equipment downtime. Responsibilities also cover machining and milling tasks, component adjustment and calibration, and ensuring all work aligns with safety and quality requirements. The technician will work closely with engineers, production personnel, and fellow technicians to implement process improvements while maintaining accurate maintenance and repair logs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles encompassing machine operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical mechanical drawings for installation and repair tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities to diagnose mechanical faults and apply effective corrective measures.
- Experience with machining and milling operations including use of machine tools and precise component measurement.
- Possession of a relevant technical diploma, certificate, or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production setting is highly advantageous.
- Competence in safe and effective use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail, communicative skills, and capacity to function well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, promptly address urgent maintenance issues, and adhere to health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
