Facilities Technician (Handyman)

Position Summary

The Facilities Technician will oversee the maintenance and repair of the company’s operational equipment and infrastructure, collaborating with external contractors and utilizing preventative maintenance systems under the guidance of the Facilities Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of building structures, equipment, and grounds.
• Collaborate with department leaders to diagnose and address equipment or plant issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and business growth.
• Participate in internal meetings to establish priorities and assign tasks.
• Work alongside the Quality department to resolve customer-related issues when needed.
• Adhere to all environmental, health, safety regulations and training requirements on-site.
• Support Lean Sigma initiatives aimed at achieving designated targets.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Facilities Manager and Department Support Lead.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must hold a Time Served QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft in Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing, Plastering & Roofing, or other construction-related disciplines.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and competency within the construction sector.
• At least 10 years of post-apprenticeship experience in construction.

Preferred Skills & Abilities

• Additional certifications in relevant fields are advantageous.
• Commitment to Lean Sigma programs and safety and quality policies consistently.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with suppliers, customers, and contractors.
• Experience within manufacturing environments is a plus.

Licenses and Travel

• Must possess a valid, clean driving license.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 5% of work time (about 13 business days annually).

Physical Demands

• Ability to exert medium physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs regularly.
• Continuous lifting capability of 35 lbs, with occasional lifts up to 75 lbs, with or without assistance.

Working Hours

Standard business hours: Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Fridays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Additional hours may occasionally be necessary.

Compensation

Annual base salary range: €46,400 to €59,100. Total compensation is determined objectively, considering experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and role responsibilities. Eligible for variable pay and incentive programs as well as benefit packages.
