Mechanical Engineer (Static & Piping) - Offshore

Overview

This position requires a Mechanical Engineer specializing in static and piping systems, particularly in offshore environments. The role demands a professional with extensive experience in oil and gas projects, focusing on design, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• A minimum of 15 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 10 years focused on design, construction, commissioning, and startup processes.
• At least 8 years should be in a commissioning engineering role.
• Experienced in FEED and EPIC project execution, including the review and approval of contractor submissions.
• Demonstrated capabilities in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup of mechanical static and piping systems as well as packaged equipment.
• Experience with FAT/SAT procedures, completions management systems, and offshore project operations.
• Familiarity with international design and safety codes such as ASME, API, and ISO standards.
• Proficient in conducting risk assessments including HAZOP and HAZID methodologies, system handover processes, and troubleshooting.
• Strong leadership skills coupled with effective communication, oversight of contractors, and coordination with operations teams.
• Knowledgeable in health, safety, environmental practices, quality assurance, and project execution methodologies.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Take the lead on mechanical commissioning activities under the guidance of the Head of Commissioning to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of commissioning, startup, and hand-over (CSU) operations.
• Review engineering documents, participate in design evaluations, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and readiness workshops.
• Design, plan, and implement mechanical completion, system integration, and commissioning packages effectively.
• Supervise critical activities such as inspections, flushing, cleaning, leak testing, hydrostatic testing, and reinstatement operations.
• Validate Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings (ISOs), lists of system handover (LoSH), and system handover documentation accuracy.
• Manage activities related to DFPV (Dry Flange Pressure Vacuum), inerting, preservation, and system preparedness.
• Oversee contractor operations, monitor progress, ensure timely resolution of technical challenges.
• Carry out line walks, system handovers, integration verification, and performance testing duties.
• Coordinate closely with operations, maintenance, and safety teams, ensuring adherence to simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) requirements.
• Handle punch list management, handover formalities, and project closeout activities diligently.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and actively participate in safety studies such as HAZOP and Environmental Impact Assessments (ENVID).
• Support continuous team development and conduct training as needed.
