Role Overview

This role calls for a mechanically skilled engineer eager to design, develop, and maintain mechanical processes that enable efficient production. Collaborating closely with R&D and manufacturing departments, you will convert concepts into practical manufacturing solutions, directly influencing how Gallagher’s products are made.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and assemble high-quality production fixtures, tooling, and machinery.
• Partner with R&D to enhance designs for manufacturability and assist in launching new products.
• Guide and support the New Product Introduction (NPI) team during product rollouts.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting and mechanical support to reduce production interruptions.
• Manage and document fixture alterations ensuring safety and procedural compliance.
• Liaise with external suppliers to procure parts and services that meet operational needs.
• Continuously seek improvements in manufacturing efficiency, equipment, and processes.
• Uphold rigorous health, safety, quality, and 6S organizational standards within the factory.
• Ensure engineering and process documentation is accurate, current, and well organized.
• Offer pragmatic engineering solutions and ideas to enhance ongoing production and engineering workflows.

Candidate Profile

• Holder of a Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (NZCE, NZDE, BE or equivalent).
• At least 3 years of pertinent experience in mechanical engineering within manufacturing environments.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software and strong at diagnosing mechanical issues.
• Effective communicator with excellent oral and written skills.
• A practical, hands-on engineer adept at problem solving.
• Prior workshop or manufacturing experience is advantageous.
• Committed to quality and craftsmanship excellence.
• Collaborative mindset to work effectively with R&D, manufacturing, NPI, and engineering teams.
• A proactive attitude toward identifying and implementing process improvements.
