Job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our supervision consultancy team on a major infrastructure project near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The incumbent will support the Resident Engineer by overseeing mechanical and utility works on site to ensure they meet project specifications, approved designs, and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor the execution of mechanical and utility construction activities following approved drawings and project requirements.
  • Provide assistance to the Resident Engineer responsible for mechanical infrastructure supervision.
  • Inspect and manage the installation of potable water supply networks on site.
  • Supervise firefighting system installations and related infrastructure tasks.
  • Oversee the deployment of gas distribution networks.
  • Monitor construction of stormwater drainage and sanitary sewage systems.
  • Supervise irrigation system installations and associated landscape mechanical works.
  • Ensure contractors adhere strictly to approved method statements, drawings, and quality standards throughout the project.
  • Review submissions from contractors, such as shop drawings and material documentation.
  • Conduct site visits and quality assurance inspections to verify construction practices are followed properly.
  • Assist in the preparation of inspection, site progress, and quality reports.
  • Identify and flag technical challenges, deviations, and delays to the Resident Engineer for resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable qualification.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure construction or project supervision roles.
  • Proven background working on utility infrastructure projects covering potable water, firefighting, gas distribution, stormwater drainage, sanitary sewage, and irrigation systems.
  • Experience in engineering consultancy environments providing supervision is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction supervision principles, inspection techniques, and quality control protocols.
  • Excellent skills in coordination, inspection, and site reporting.
