Technical Director - Water

Overview

We are looking for an outstanding Technical Director specializing in Water to lead technical innovation, project execution, and growth in our Middle East Water division based in Saudi Arabia. This senior role encompasses steering multidisciplinary teams on diverse water-related infrastructure projects across the GCC and broader Middle East region while enhancing our consultancy's reputation and client partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide authoritative technical guidance across potable water, wastewater, stormwater, irrigation, hydrology, flood management, water resources, and integrated infrastructure disciplines.
• Drive technical direction by overseeing reviews, ensuring compliance with international and regional standards, and championing innovative, sustainable, and resilient water infrastructure solutions incorporating digital engineering and emerging technologies.
• Lead multidisciplinary project delivery from concept through design to construction support, managing scope, schedule, quality, risk, and profitability while resolving complex technical challenges.
• Maintain and develop strong client and stakeholder relationships including utilities, government bodies, developers, and municipalities, representing the company in technical workshops, presentations, and strategic engagements.
• Support business development through market analysis, bidding, proposal leadership, and enhancing brand presence via industry events and thought leadership.
• Mentor and develop engineering professionals, foster technical excellence and innovation culture, and participate in workforce planning and succession strategies.
• Promote sustainable practices such as climate resilience, circular economy, water reuse, and Water Sensitive Urban Design within project and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• Professional accreditation like Chartered Engineer (CEng), PE, PMP, or equivalent.
• 15-20+ years of consulting experience in water infrastructure with extensive project work in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
• Proven expertise in areas including potable water networks, wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater management, irrigation, hydrology and hydraulic modelling, flood risk management, water resources planning, and integrated design.
• Deep knowledge of GCC authority regulations and design standards.
• Strong leadership in managing large multidisciplinary teams along with business development and client management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
